Yulia Tymoshenko: IT sector needs to be involved in developing the Ukrainian economy

tymoshenko-it.jpgPresidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko says the most progressive sector in Ukraine – the IT sector – needs to be more involved in state development and creating a digital economy.

"You are the driving force behind reforms and the country’s economic development," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a meeting with representatives of Ukraine’s leading IT companies.

The leader of Batkivshchyna was the first presidential candidate to initiate such a meeting, which took place on April 15 in the Chasopys art café in Kyiv. Yulia Tymoshenko underscored that her aim was to get advice and recommendations from IT companies on economic development and e-governance.

"In the modern world, information technologies are more than just an industry or sector of the economy. IT is the air of the most developed modern economies. Its influence is all-encompassing: energy conservation and revolutionary medical treatment, affordable quality education, efficient production, human resources administration and management, entertainment, communication, finance, etc. All these areas are going digital worldwide," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

The leader of Batkivshchyna also thanked the representatives of the IT sector for their active civic position during the revolution of dignity, thanks to which she was released from prison.
