Yulia Tymoshenko: only unity between east and west can fend off the Russian invaders (photos)

_apm1228.jpgPresidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko says Ukrainians will be able to repel the Russian invaders if east and west unite.

"We need to leave behind the competition of who better shook the country and find understanding that won’t be considered a loss for either the east or west of Ukraine. If we muster the courage to find a basis for unity, the country will find lasting peace and will become a powerful geopolitical player. I think this compromise will be found, and it requires that the west understand the east and the east understand the west," Yulia Tymoshenko said today during a meeting in the Donetsk oblast with the Artemivsky special patrol battalion.

The leader of the Batkivshchyna Party believes that if Russia fails to fulfill the agreements reached during the multilateral talks in Geneva, Ukraine will be forced to defend its borders with the help of the Resistance Movement. "If our country still has troops from another country, one which believes they don’t have to comply with the Geneva agreements and the will of our people and doesn’t leave our territory, then I think battalions such as yours will stop them. The resistance movement needs to gain strength countrywide, and then we will show the strength of Ukraine and our people," she said.

"I think the most valuable and effective people today are those willing to defend their country and their regions," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

The Batkivshchyna leader thanked the battalion for abandoning their peaceful lives to defend Ukraine.
