Yulia Tymoshenko: we must not allow any illegal referendums in the country (photos)

_apm2022.jpgPresidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko expects that people in the southeastern regions of Ukraine will demonstrate unity and not allow illegal referendums to be held on their territories.

"All Ukrainians must live according to the Constitution and laws that very clearly regulate how referendums are held. It is unacceptable that there is talk of holding some kind of regional referendum that is totally illegal and unconstitutional," Yulia Tymoshenko said at a press conference today in Donetsk.

The leader of the Batkivshchyna Party urged all citizens to prevent illegal referendums from being held in Ukraine. "I ask that everyone abide by the laws and Constitution. Somehow I believe there won’t be any illegal referendums in the Donetsk or Luhansk oblasts. There is very strong consolidation for this in the southern and eastern regions. Nobody wants war on their territory and nobody wants division. Everyone dreams of peace and a calm life for their families," she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko also said the aim of her visit to Donetsk was to assess the sentiment among the population and those that have seized government buildings. "I want to hear directly from them what their demands are, what they expect, whose interests represent, and to what extent their demands are consistent with the interests of the people that live in eastern and southern Ukraine," the Batkivshchyna leader said.
