Yulia Tymoshenko: I will consider all constructive proposals on needed reforms in Ukraine

_apm9410.jpgPresidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko agrees with Yuriy Lutsenko, leader of the Third Ukrainian Republic movement, that a new format of social discourse is needed during the presidential campaign.

"I absolutely agree with this position and am ready to personally support it," Yulia Tymoshenko said. "I propose that all the main presidential candidates hold televised debates about their election programs and plans for the country’s development."

The leader of Batkivshchyna said that she, as a politician, has a lot in common with Yuriy Lutsenko, in that they were both victims of political repression and were wrongly imprisoned. "We personally experienced the injustice of a state system that was in essence soviet and repressive, which we, unfortunately, weren’t able to reform when we were both in government," she said.

In her view, Yuriy Lutsenko understands that the old, corrupt, ineffective system in Ukraine that grossly ignored rights and freedom, must be fully broken and replaced by harmonious, democratic and European rules of life.

"As a candidate for president I am ready to listen to all the constructive suggestions made by Yuriy Lutsenko and the Third Ukrainian Republic aimed at genuine systematic reforms in Ukraine and incorporate them in my broader election program," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

Yuriy Lutsenko has said that society needs to move away from discussions about how presidential candidates look, dress, talk, etc. He believes positive changes require that politicians and citizens of Ukraine elect their president based on real competition of their plans, election programs and teams.
